| Is it common for one of my breasts to appear larger than the other after the operation?
Yes. This depends on how fast your body is able to cope with and repair the trauma it has just endured. Swelling is common after an operation and sometimes, one breast will heal faster than the other. After both breasts have ceased swelling they will even out in appearance. This can be up to two months after surgery.
How will I know which cup size is best for me?
Our most popular chosen cup size is a C, but it all depends on the frame of your body. If you have small breasts, it is possible to go up a cup or two in size. In breast reduction, consulting with your doctor will greatly help in determining the cup size for you. Our computer imaging method can help you gain a visual model on which to base your decision on which cup size best fits you.
When will I able to go back to my regular activities?
This greatly depends on the ability of your body to heal. Normally, two days of rest followed by a week of light activities is recommended. Three to four weeks after the surgery you are generally able to resume your regular day to day activities.
I am over forty - am I too old for breast surgery?
Age is not an issue when it comes to breast augmentation. It is the overall health of the person that counts most when considering suitability. Many women after the age of forty have had successful breast surgery.
Will breast reduction provide a permanent result?
Yes it does, but your body is still prone to change. It is important to be aware that if you gain weight after surgery, the fatty tissues that are left in your breast can enlarge and gain mass. Taking hormonal supplements may also yield the same results.
Will I be able to see the results immediately after a breast reduction surgery?
Yes. Although there will be some swelling caused by the trauma to the tissues, the reduction in size will be immediately noticeable. The problems you may have experienced from having large breasts, such as back pain and difficulty in breathing are immediately removed.
Will the scars be visible and noticeable?
Usually the incisions are made within the natural folds of the breast, where the scar, if evident, is hidden. The formation of keloids which consist of a raised scar of a reddish colour can be avoided. Consultation with your doctor for the proper treatment and prevention of scarring can help to avoid these issues.
Will a breast lift get me bigger breasts?
No. A breast lift will only give your breast a fuller look and eliminate the sagging, giving it a younger and more youthful characteristic. If you want a larger breast, you can opt to have breast augmentation along with the breast lift for the increase in size.
How long until I can go back to work after a male breast reduction procedure?
This depends on the procedure given to you. If you have only undergone a liposuction treatment you may be able to resume work after a weekend of rest. If you have undergone more intensive surgery it will generally take a week or so, depending on your body’s ability to heal.
Will my breasts grow large again after I have a male breast reduction?
If you gain a significant amount of weight you are likely to experience a reoccurrence in the male breast forming. Some medications can also induce the abnormal growth of the breasts.
